Alameda got a decent performance from pitcher Clay Smith, but it wasn't enough to beat the Walla Walla Walleye. Walla Walla won the Walleye Tank contest, 5-1. Smith threw 6.1 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Ryan McDaniel earned the save for Walla Walla, his 1st. The Walleye win now puts them at 23-19.
Tied up with the Airmen in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Walleye got a boost from third baseman Derek Zoolander. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Zoolander saw a 2-0 sinker from Clay Smith and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Walla Walla on top, 1-0.
"A great game, a great day," said Zoolander about the win. "I can't complain."
