Big Day for Vargas in 7-6 Airmen Win
|
The Alameda Airmen beat the Mancelona Torch, 7-6, at Alameda Field. Alameda right fielder Luis Vargas led the way. He went 3-4 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Clifford Tracy closed out the game, earning his 6th save. Alameda, now 22-21, holds down 5th place in the Menard's A.
Vargas contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Alameda in the bottom of the third. With his team trailing 1-0, Vargas took a fastball from Lloyd McGlory and stroked the home run to left. His 5th home run of the season allowed the Airmen to leap in front, 3-1.
"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Vargas, "one at-bat at a time."
