Generals Solve Chiefs, 5-3
|
Washington pitcher Luis Salaza did his part in helping his team beat the Caldwell Chiefs, 5-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. In 7 innings, Salaza surrendered 8 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs. Ed Cook collected his 6th save.
The Generals got a big at-bat from designated hitter Jorge Sánchez. For the game, Sánchez was 1-4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 6th double of the season gave Washington a 2-0 lead.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Sánchez.
The Generals now own a record of 23-22.
