The Pontiac Godfathers, behind a great outing from Armando Guzmán, who is tied for 3rd in the 3A in wins with 4, defeated the Idaho Falls Chukars, 2-1, at Idaho Falls Park. Guzmán, now 4-2, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 9, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. The save went to Bob Simpson, number 14 for him.

Aurelio Morales put Pontiac in front, 2-0, when he hit a solo home run off Fernando Rodríguez in the top of the fifth. It was his 7th home run of the season.

"I was just trying to execute one pitch at a time," said Guzmán.

Pontiac is now 26-19.
