Pipers Ballpark was the site of a remarkable pitchers' duel.

In a low-scoring game between Caldwell and Walla Walla, pitcher Jerry Armstrong was excellent. The Caldwell right-hander helped his team knock off the Walleye, 2-1. The winning pitcher was Armstrong, now 4-2. He tossed 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 6. George Harris, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 10th save.

In the bottom of the seventh, Will Marshall delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and a runner on 3rd, the Caldwell first baseman hit a run-scoring single, putting the Chiefs in front, 2-1.

"Tough loss," said Walla Walla manager Félix Cruz. "The kind that burns a little inside."

Caldwell sits in 9th place in the Menard's A at 20-26.
