Though he had a great game, Bill Meeks could not single-handedly produce a win for Boston. Ft. Worth won the game, 5-2. Meeks was 4 for 4 with 2 doubles, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch. Jeff Forrest earned his 17th save in 24 chances. The victory makes Ft. Worth 37-69.

Ft. Worth left fielder Willie Nelson contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the seventh. With two down, he hit a splitter to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 10th hit of the season and put the Cattlemen ahead, 5-2.

"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Nelson said.
