Airmen Lose, 9-7, in 10
|
The Caldwell Chiefs in 10 innings downed the Alameda Airmen, 9-7, at Alameda Field. Ángel Macías led the way, going 3-for-4 for Caldwell. Patrick Wilder came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record now stands at 3-1. By defeating Alameda, the third-place Chiefs improved to 32-22.
The game was at a stalemate until catcher Jason Glass came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing Alameda pitcher Jesse Martin, he hit a first pitch fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Caldwell on top, 7-6.
"Our team found a way to get it done," said Macías.
