Qi-chang Chia was a major factor in the 8-6 Pontiac win over Rocky Mountain. The Godfathers third baseman went 2 for 5 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. The win went to Ming-hoa Meng in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Aarto Taipale took the loss. The third-place Vibes dropped to 34-24.
The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Pontiac trailing 6-4, Chia jumped on a fastball from 24-year old right-handed pitcher Aarto Taipale and hit a grand slam home run to right. With one swing, the Godfathers had a walk-off win.
"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said Chia.
