Manatees Beat Hawks, 5-3
|
Despite a great performance by Laredo second baseman Juan Álvarez, the Matlacha Manatees defeated the Hawks by the score of 5-3 at Fuller Park. Álvarez was 4 for 5 with 2 doubles and 2 singles. Matlacha reliever Sean Conner picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Chip Beatty took the loss. Jerry Bower was credited with the save for Matlacha, his 7th of the season.
With Matlacha leading 2-0 in the bottom of the second, Nori Kichida hit a 2-run single off Laredo pitcher Chip Beatty. It put the Manatees ahead 4-0.
"It's nice to deliver when your team's counting on you," said Kichida.
At 28-31, Matlacha is in 8th place in the Menard's A.
