Bulls Earn 5-3 Win Against Torch
|
The Belleville Bulls racked up a win at Torch Field, bumping off the Mancelona Torch, 5-3, in 11 innings. Gunner Laird, who started for Belleville, pitched effectively for his team. Luis Martínez earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 1.2 innings. His record is now 4-3. Scott Bates earned the save for Belleville, his 4th of the year.
Belleville used a timely hit from Koki Sasaki to get the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the 11th inning to put the Bulls ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a difference-maker.
"If I go out there and help the team win, that's all you can do," said Laird.
Belleville, at 28-32, occupies 8th place in the Menard's A.
