With Late Score, Blue Dragons Beat Torch
|
Mancelona got a terrific performance from pitcher Isaak van Breugel, but it wasn't enough to beat the Levittown Blue Dragons. Levittown won the Torch Field contest, 4-3. van Breugel threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Juan Soto snagged the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit over 2 innings. He's now 1-0 on the season. Don Smith, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 8th save.
Levittown needed the clutch hitting of Will Hubbard to seal the deal. The third baseman swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Blue Dragons on top, 4-3. For the game, Hubbard had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Hubbard told a Levittown Gazette reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
The loss makes Mancelona 29-34.
