Manatees Get Clonked by Godfathers, 4-2
|
The Pontiac Godfathers topped the Matlacha Manatees, 4-2, in M3L Single A action at Pontiac Copperdome. The game was highlighted by the performance of Pontiac pitcher José Sandoval. Sandoval yielded 2 runs over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 0, and struck out 6. His record improves to 6-5. Bob Simpson finished to wrap up his 20th save.
Russ Jones hit a 2-run double off Yi-da Gui in the bottom of the fourth, which put the Godfathers in front, 3-2. In addition to the double, Jones had 1 single, while going 2 for 4.
"We're in a little funk right now and we've just got to get ourselves out of it," said Matlacha manager Howard Lee.
The Godfathers, at 38-25, sit in third place in the Menard's A.
