Godfathers Get One-Run Win at Washington
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Pontiac Godfathers and the Washington Generals, Arthur Tidwell, who is tied for 2nd in the 3A in quality starts with 10, was the difference-maker. The Pontiac left-hander spearheaded the 1-0 win. Tidwell, the winner, moves to 6-4. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 2 and giving up 3 walks. Carlos Ramos earned the save for Pontiac.
Fernando Silva provided a timely hit. The Pontiac center fielder delivered a run-scoring triple in the top of the seventh inning to put the Godfathers on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in the game, but he made it count.
"Winning makes the heart grow fonder -- for more winning," said Tidwell, cracking a smile.
The triumph puts Pontiac at 36-28 for the season.
