Generals Rally Late to Clip Pontiac
The Washington Generals defeated the Pontiac Godfathers, 6-5, at Washington Park. Washington was led by 22-year old center fielder Demy Karlier, who belted 2 home runs. Washington is 31-34 and Pontiac, with the loss, 36-29.

The game-ending blow was delivered by Burt Roy in the bottom of the ninth. That's when he hit a run-scoring double off 24-year old right-handed pitcher Carlos Ramos to win it for Washington and cause the home crowd to erupt in celebration.

"I'm glad I could get it done when the game was in the balance," Karlier said in his postgame press conference.
