Big Day for Asmus as Hawks Down Expos, 6-5
|
In a tight contest at Waterfall Park, the Laredo Hawks edged the Niagara Falls Expos by the score of 6-5. Laredo first baseman Dolf Asmus, who blasted 2 home runs, was a key contributor. Edward Vaughn picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Juan González, who is tied for 5th in the 3A in wins with 6, was tagged with the loss. Andy Lewis earned the save for Laredo, his 15th of the year.
The Hawks got a big boost from designated hitter Gilberto Miranda who had a run-scoring hit-by-pitch in the top of the fourth inning off Expos hurler Juan González. It was his 16th RBI of the season and put Laredo on top, 5-4.
"I'm trying to keep it simple," said Miranda. "Just do my job."
With the win, Laredo upped its record to 40-26.
