Walleye Beat Chiefs, 2-0
|
In a low-scoring game between the Walla Walla Walleye and the Caldwell Chiefs, pitcher Billy Warren was masterful on the mound. The Walla Walla left-hander spearheaded his team's 2-0 win. The winning pitcher was Warren, now 7-2. He tossed 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 5. Ryan McDaniel picked up his 3rd save of the season.
Walla Walla went up, 1-0, on Thomas Clinkinboomer's 11th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Clinkinboomer hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Caldwell pitcher Robbie Brown shaking his head.
"The old adage is true," said Warren. "Good pitching stops good hitting."
The triumph puts Walla Walla at 33-33 for the season.
