Caldwell beat Alameda at Pipers Ballpark, eking out a 4-3 win. The triumph was primarily due to first baseman Will Marshall. He went 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. George Harris notched his 15th save in 19 chances. With this game in the books, Caldwell is 31-38, Alameda 37-32.
Had Cecil Burke not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Burke hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Chiefs.
