Hudson Goes Off, But Chiefs Win
The Caldwell Chiefs overcame a pretty good performance by Belleville center fielder Jason Hudson, beating the Bulls, 10-9, at Belleville Field. Hudson went 3 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Jorge González, the winner, goes to 1-2. He allowed 3 runs on 7 hits, with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts over 6.1 innings. Carl Rogers, who is tied for 8th in the 3A with a 1.10 WHIP, earned the save for Caldwell.

Orlando Gómez cracked a home run off Norm Sizemore in the top of the first. His 2-run blast put the Chiefs on top, 2-0. In all, Gómez had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 5.

"I like the grit of this ballclub," Gómez said.

Caldwell is now 34-38, while Belleville is 39-33.
