Chukars Popped by Chiefs, 7-3
|
Caldwell Chiefs starter Carlos Pereira pitched a strong game against the Idaho Falls Chukars at Pipers Ballpark, leading the Chiefs to victory, 7-3. Pereira, now 2-3, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 3, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. The save was credited to George Harris, his 18th.
Melvin Farr drove in one run for Caldwell. The 20-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the second. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Lorenzo Ramírez. It was his 3rd RBI of the season.
Farr attributed the win to "everyone pulling their weight."
The 7th-place Chiefs bumped their record to 37-39.
