Generals Capture 4-2 Win at Waterfall Park
|
The Washington Generals got a marvelous performance from pitcher Rod Pierce. The left-hander kept the Niagara Falls offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 4-2 Washington victory at Waterfall Park. Pierce yielded 1 run over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 0, and struck out 1. His record improves to 2-2. The win puts the Generals at 36-41, while the Expos drop to 32-45.
Washington used the timely hitting of Brian Ellison to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Generals on top, 4-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Really good pitchers have that ability to raise their game when they need to," said Washington manager Kyu-cheol Kye.
