Bulls Trip Vibes, 7-4, in Extra Innings
|
Fans who congregated at Bellevue Field were treated to extra-inning drama.
The Belleville Bulls topped the Rocky Mountain Vibes, 7-4, in 10 innings at Bellevue Field. The game was highlighted by the performance of Belleville pitcher Norm Sizemore. António Castillo picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Aarto Taipale, who is tied for 2nd in the 3A in saves with 18, was tagged with the loss. Francisco Valenzuela got credit for the save for Belleville. It was his 21st of the year.
The result might have been different, had it not been for 23-year old center fielder Jason Hudson. Hudson had a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the tenth inning to put the Bulls ahead, 5-4. For the game, Hudson had 1 double and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Sizemore. "Successful pitchers do it."
Belleville occupies 4th place in the Menard's A at 41-36.
