Yellows Turn Back Hawks, 4-2

The Yucca Valley Yellows picked up a win at Hawks Field, knocking off the Laredo Hawks, 4-2. Starting pitcher Rafiq bin Zuhair played a key role in the triumph. In 6.2 innings, bin Zuhair surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs. Ángel Díaz collected his 14th save.
Yucca Valley used the timely hitting of Roy Bell to capture the win. The shortstop socked a grand slam home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Yellows ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"I like what I saw today," said Yucca Valley manager Chaim Werkman, "and I can't wait to get back out there and do it again."
The 5th-place Yellows have won 4 consecutive games.
