Laredo got a valiant performance from pitcher Pancho Rocha, but it wasn't enough to beat the Yucca Valley Yellows. Yucca Valley won the game, 5-2. Rocha threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. The win belonged to Pila Milanni in relief. His record improves to 4-2. Jack Barr took the loss for Laredo. Ralph Dougherty sewed up the save, his 3rd.

Yucca Valley used a clutch hit from Don Jollymour to get the win. The pinch hitter drilled a grand slam home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Yellows ahead, 5-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a doozy.

Said losing manager José Gato: "It's very easy to sit in an ivory tower and critique the pitching, but the bottom line is we need to score runs."

The 'W' lifts Yucca Valley's record to 42-42.
