Max Pegrum, who leads the 3A in doubles with 27, led Mancelona to a triumph over Yucca Valley. The final score was 6-5. The left fielder went 3 for 4, falling a triple shy of the cycle. He scored 1 run and added 1 RBI. Dave Kidd came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 3.1 innings. His record now stands at 3-1. Had Juan Vega not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Vega hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Torch.

"I told our guys, 'Runs don't score by themselves,'" said Pegrum. "You need someone to get on base and someone to drive them in."
