Torch Suffer 5-3 Setback

Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Caldwell Chiefs and Mancelona Torch.
The Caldwell Chiefs cut down the Mancelona Torch by the score of 5-3, with the largest share of the credit going to designated hitter Pedro Paredes. Paredes went 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk. He scored 3 times for the Chiefs. Miguel González, the winner, is now 7-7. He struck out 4 and walked 4 over 6.2 innings, while allowing 3 runs on 6 hits.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the sixth, with the game tied, Ramón Cora was at the plate when Caldwell scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Chiefs to go in front, 4-3.
"Just glad I could help us get a win," said Paredes.
The Chiefs improved their record to 38-46 by beating Mancelona.
