Godfathers Score Late to Upend Manatees, 5-2
|
Matlacha got a valiant performance from pitcher Bob Newsome, but it wasn't enough to beat the Pontiac Godfathers. Pontiac won the game, 5-2. Newsome threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. The winning streak has now reached 4 games for Pontiac.
Pontiac used the timely hitting of Mike Miller to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Godfathers on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
After the game, Pontiac manager John Moss applauded the team's effort. "We put some good AB's together," he said.
