Expos Absorb 9-6 Home Loss
|
Despite a fine performance by left fielder George Ayala, the Niagara Falls Expos lost to the Walla Walla Walleye, 9-6. Ayala went 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and 2 walks. Greg Ogilvie snagged the win in relief. He goes to 2-0 on the season. Rob Small suffered the loss. The 5th-place Expos have lost 4 straight games.
Walla Walla designated hitter Derek Zoolander contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the third. With two down, he hit a fastball to left field for a 2-run single. It was his 69th hit of the season and put the Walleye ahead, 3-0.
"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Zoolander told the Walla Walla Daily.
