Generals Capture Close Win
|
The Washington Generals faced a tough opponent in Alameda pitcher Frank McConnell, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Washington Park by a final score of 3-2 in 11 innings. McConnell went 6.1 innings and allowed 1 run. The win went to Joe Burkett in relief, making him now 4-0. Stewart Holman took the loss for Alameda. The Generals saw their win-loss record go to 32-54. At the same time, the Airmen fell to 47-39.
The Generals got a clutch hit from second baseman William Johnson. In the bottom of the 11th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Generals.
"He who laughs last laughs best," Johnson said, postgame.
