|
Laredo got a big-time effort from pitcher Lang Ren, but it wasn't enough to keep the Idaho Falls Chukars from winning the game, 3-2. Ren threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Idaho Falls is second in the Menard's A with a record of 52-35.
The game was at a stalemate until second baseman António Medina came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Laredo pitcher Denny Springer, he hit a 0-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Idaho Falls on top, 3-2.
"That's baseball," said Laredo manager José Gato. "Sometimes the other team plays better than yours."
