Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Bullets
|
Miguel Martínez pitched well, but the Athletic Club KC still lost the game, falling, 4-2, to the Baltimore Bullets at Baltimore Grounds. Roberto Silva picked up the win in relief for Baltimore, while Miguel Martínez took the loss. With the win, Baltimore lifts its record to 2-1.
The game was at a stalemate until pinch hitter Osvaldo Ardiles came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Athletic Club KC pitcher Tong-kyu Ko, he hit a 1-1 fastball for a run-scoring double. It was a game-changer, putting Baltimore on top, 3-2.
Athletic Club KC manager Geoff Matt said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
