Alameda Beats Belleville in 10-Inning Thriller
|
Due in part to right fielder Luis Vargas, the Alameda Airmen chopped down the Belleville Bulls, 5-4, in 10 innings. Vargas was 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk. With the win, Alameda has a record of 47-43. Belleville falls to 49-41.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the tenth. With no one out, Vargas hit a fastball from Jorge Gracía for a run-scoring single. The Airmen, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
Vargas told the media after that game that the mood in the clubhouse is "extremely positive" after a win like that.
