Bulls Rally to Nose Past Laredo
|
The Belleville Bulls did just enough to secure a victory over the Laredo Hawks, 4-3, in 10 innings at Belleville Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Donald Hamm. The winner was Belleville reliever Jimmy Jeffries, now 4-3. The loser was Andy Lewis. With the win, Belleville upped its record to 49-42.
The game was decided with two out in the bottom of the tenth. With Belleville trailing 3-2, Curt Clayton hit a sinker from Andy Lewis to center for a 2-run single. Just like that, the Bulls had a walk-off win.
In comments to the Belleville Times, Clayton admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."
