Chiefs Come Up Short at Niagara Falls, 7-6
|
Getting a good performance from catcher John Murphy, the Niagara Falls Expos defeated the Caldwell Chiefs, 7-6. Murphy went 3-4 with 2 doubles. He drove in 5 runs for the Expos. Niagara Falls reliever Horácio Kaisin picked up the win, upping his record to 4-3. Cheslav Vadbolski was saddled with the loss. Leland Wood, who is tied for 6th in the 3A in holds with 5, nailed down the save.
Chris Ledesma drew 1 walk for Niagara Falls. The 23-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 6-6 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Cheslav Vadbolski. It was his 44th RBI of the season.
"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Ledesma told the Niagara Falls Herald.
Niagara Falls is now 50-41, while Caldwell is 43-48.
