Hawks Field hosted an old-fashioned pitchers' duel.
Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Laredo Hawks and the Washington Generals. Laredo won it, 2-0. Laredo starter Martin Sellers was in command. In 7 innings, Sellers surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 0. He allowed no runs.
In the bottom of the third inning, first baseman Miguel Angel Flores had a 2-run home run for Laredo. It was his 6th home run of the season and put the Hawks on top, 2-0.
"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Flores, "one at-bat at a time."
The Hawks sit in 4th place in the Menard's A with a record of 52-40.
