Chukars Down Generals, 4-3
|
The Idaho Falls Chukars picked up a win at Washington Park, knocking off the Washington Generals, 4-3, in 11 innings. On the mound for Idaho Falls was right-hander Luis Tirado. He played a pivotal role in the triumph. Gregg Carlson, credited with the win in relief, is now 1-0. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 1 innings. The Chukars win now puts them at 45-47.
The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Joe Oliver came to bat in the top of the 11th. Facing Washington pitcher Joe Burkett, he hit a 3-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Idaho Falls on top, 3-2.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Washington manager Kyu-cheol Kye. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
