|
A 4-RBI performance from the 22-year old third baseman Ed Taylor helped the Matlacha Manatees beat the Mancelona Torch, 5-4. The winner in relief was Andrew Thomas. He is now 2-0. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 3 hits in 1.2 innings. Matlacha, with the win, climbs to 22-70.
The climactic moment came in the bottom of the ninth for Matlacha. That's when Luis Guzmán, who is tied for 10th in the 3A in bases on balls with 38, hit a solo home run off Jack Jones to win the game. The home crowd erupted in celebration.
"It's great when the crowd is energized," Guzmán said.
