Lakers Earn 4-3 Win Versus Flamingos
|
The Echo Park Lakers did just enough to sneak past the Las Vegas Flamingos, 4-3, at LA Forum. Echo Park pitcher Naohiro Ueno, in particular, had a standout performance. Salvador López snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit over 1.1 innings. He's now 1-0 on the season. Chan-seok Yi picked up the save for Echo Park, his 2nd of the year.
The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Eric George came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Las Vegas pitcher Bill Marshall, he hit a first pitch fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Echo Park on top, 4-3.
George told a Echo Park Bulletin reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
Echo Park sits at 4-0 in the early going.
