Yucca Valley Yellows pitcher Jonathan Rasmussen was in fine form, leading his team past the Matlacha Manatees, 2-1. Rasmussen, the winner, moves to 5-10. He threw 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 2 and giving up 1 walk. Ralph Dougherty recorded his 5th save for Yucca Valley.
Yucca Valley used the timely hitting of Clifton Brooks to capture the win. The shortstop socked a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Yellows ahead, 2-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"We're just going to try to build off this win," said Brooks.
The Yellows go to 46-48, putting them 9th in the Menard's A.
