|
Carlos Ríos had a good game, but he could not keep the Columbia River Rats from falling, 8-5, to the Alameda Airmen at Alameda Field. The Columbia designated hitter was 3-4 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once in the loss. Frank McConnell, who went 5.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 5 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 6. His record now stands at 8-4. Todd Lee recorded the save, his 27th.
Tied up with the River Rats in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Airmen got a boost from left fielder Jorge Martínez. With the bases loaded, Martínez saw a 1-2 slider from Juan Hernández and hit a 2-run single to break the stalemate and put Alameda on top, 4-2.
"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Martínez.
Alameda occupies 6th place in the Menard's A at 50-44.
