In a tight contest between the Pittsburgh Kingfishers and the Colorado Billy Goats, Richard Miller was the determining factor. The Pittsburgh left-hander sparkled in his team's 3-2 win. Pittsburgh reliever Jeff Thompson picked up the win. Sloppy Thurston took the loss for Colorado. With the loss, Colorado is 2-4.

The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Luzvimindo Layug came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Colorado pitcher Sloppy Thurston, he hit a first pitch curveball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Pittsburgh on top, 3-2.

"We squandered some opportunities," said Colorado manager Mack Kilkeary.
