Philadelphia Earns 2-1 Win
|
Memphis wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Eddie Daniel, falling to the Philadelphia Liberty, 2-1. Daniel threw 8.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Millard Cowan notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 3.1 innings. His record now sits at 1-0. Jorge Montoya nailed down his 3rd save.
Philadelphia took a 2-1 lead on Nick Coleman's 2nd home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Coleman hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Memphis pitcher Eddie Daniel visibly frustrated.
"Every loss hurts," said Memphis manager Beau Carsten. "But this was a tough one."
The victory makes Philadelphia 5-5.
