The 2062 season did not get off to quite the start the Put-In-Bay Commodores had hoped, with an opening day loss to the South Beach Blaze at Put-In-Bay Ballpark. The final score was 13-4. Shortstop Julius Hicks was the top performer for South Beach.

With South Beach leading 6-4 in the top of the sixth, Hicks hit a cutter from Eric Dalton for a grand slam home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Blaze ahead, 10-4.

"Feels good to get the job done," Hicks said after the game.
