Fans brought energy and enthusiasm to the Newmarket Rogues home opener. Don Alistair started for the home team against José Castro for the South Beach Blaze. The Rogues were unable to reward the home crowd with a win. The final score was 3-2, South Beach, in 10 innings. Don Alistair, though, was impressive.
South Beach used the timely hitting of José Rangel to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Blaze on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
South Beach manager Gerald Merendino commended his team for "banging out a nice win."
