The Walla Walla Walleye got a magnificent effort from pitcher Daniel Shields, who kept Pontiac hitters in check en route to a 3-1 Walleye win at Pontiac Copperdome. The winner was Shields. He threw 6.0 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Sal Cross. Brad Carter finished to wrap up his 1st save.

It could have been a different outcome for Walla Walla, had it not been for Brent Pelaez, the 20-year old shortstop . Pelaez contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the third inning to put Walla Walla up, 3-0.

Walla Walla manager Calvin Beck said his team played a "no nonsense" game.
