Pontiac Godfathers starter Steve Stewart pitched a strong game against the Eugene Vandals at Pontiac Copperdome, leading the Godfathers to victory, 3-2. Pontiac reliever Jesse Yates picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. Keith Ortíz was tagged with the loss. The win gives Pontiac a record of 3-2.
Pontiac took the lead, 3-2, on Steve Owens's 2nd home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off Eugene pitcher Keith Ortíz in the bottom of the eighth.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Eugene manager José Cervantes. "But we decided not to take it."
