The Baltimore Bullets got a magnificent performance from pitcher Kris Collins, who stifled the Long Island offense en route to a 2-1 Bullets win at Baltimore Grounds. Gene Greene picked up the save, his 3rd. The win puts Baltimore at 6-5.
Had Won-sub Chong not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Chong hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Bullets.
"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Collins. "Successful pitchers do it."
