Tula Snatch Late-Game, 3-2 Win
|
The Chicago Tula overcame a good performance by Put-In-Bay first baseman Rusty Howell to knock off Put-In-Bay, 3-2, at Put-In-Bay Ballpark. Howell was 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. Steffen Benton earned the save for Chicago, his 3rd of the year. With the win, Chicago elevates its record to 5-3.
Chicago needed the clutch hitting of Gus Thomlinson to notch the win. The shortstop hammered a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Tula on top, 3-2. For the game, Thomlinson had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"That's baseball," said Put-In-Bay manager José Trejo. "Sometimes the other team plays better than yours."
