Late Magic Gets Vancouver 5-3 Win
The New Orleans Voodoo got a superb performance from pitcher Volmer Aalbers. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Vancouver. The Grey Wolves won the game, 5-3. Aalbers threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball. The win was credited to Júlio Martínez in relief. His record improves to 1-0. George Atwater took the loss. The save was credited to Ernie Jones, his 1st.

Vancouver used the timely hitting of Sang-Seung Yang to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Grey Wolves on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"This kind of win will certainly make our fans happy," Yang told the Vancouver Observer.

The Grey Wolves, now 2-0, have stormed out of the gates.
