Thunder Collect 7-6 Win Over Voodoo
|
New Orleans first baseman Rubén Vargas had a good game, even if his team did not. The Voodoo dropped a 7-6 decision to Toronto at The Voodoo Lounge. Vargas was 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Floyd Seymour, now 1-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 2 innings. The win puts Toronto at 1-1.
Toronto used a clutch hit from Lance Slaymaker to get the win. The catcher drilled a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Thunder ahead, 7-6. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It was terrific getting this win," Slaymaker said. "We put in a lot of work to do it."
