Blue Dragons Use Late Score to Top Godfathers, 4-3
|
The Levittown Blue Dragons had to overcome a fine effort from Pontiac pitcher Sal Cross to win, 4-3, at The Cave at Levittown. Cross went 7.2 innings and allowed 3 runs. The winner in relief was Gabriel Nevárez. He is now 1-0. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2.1 innings. The Godfathers drop to 4-8, as their fitful start to the 2058 campaign continues.
Up to bat in the bottom of the ninth, 19-year old third baseman Bob Watson had a chance to be the hero. Pontiac pitcher Jesse Yates wanted to foil that plan. But with one out, Watson hit a sacrifice fly. The Blue Dragons had themselves a thrilling win.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Pontiac manager Luis García.
