Vandals Deal Jets 4-2 Defeat
|
Eugene pinch hitter Wayne Buckby contributed significantly to his team's 4-2 win over the Kennesaw Jets. Buckby went 1 for 1 with 1 run scored to lead the offensive attack for the Vandals. Curt Case, the winning pitcher, improved to 2-0. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 8 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 0. With the win, Eugene goes to 7-5.
Buckby had a game-changing home run in the top of the seventh. On a 2-0 fastball from John Baker, he banged a grand slam home run to right-center, giving the Vandals a 4-1 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Buckby.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Buckby said after the game.
