Slumping Jets Lose 8th Straight
The Chicago Tula beat the Kennesaw Jets, 3-1, with major props going to shortstop Wally Valdés. On the day, Valdés went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times for the Tula. Chicago pitcher Bob Simpson got the win, upping his record to 1-0. Fred Jennings got the loss. The save went to Greg Kirkpatrick, his 6th this season.

Francisco López came through with a big-time hit for Chicago. The left fielder smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 3-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

In postgame remarks, Valdés hailed his team's "single-minded focus."

The Jets, now 4-10, continue their slow start.
