Commodores Snag 6-4 Win
|
The Put-In-Bay Commodores took on the South Beach Blaze at The Ballpark on the Beach.
The Put-In-Bay Commodores defeated the South Beach Blaze, 6-4, at The Ballpark on the Beach. Billy Mathis, who is tied for 8th in the PA in bases on balls with 7, was a standout performer for Put-In-Bay. His 3 hits included 2 singles and 1 double -- this in addition to the 1 run he scored and 2 he knocked in. Sancho Sánchez finished to wrap up his 2nd save.
A key moment came with one out in the top of the eighth. That's when Mathis hit a fastball from John Sanders for a 2-run single, putting Put-In-Bay up, 6-3.
Put-In-Bay manager José Trejo said his team played a "no nonsense" game.
With the win, Put-In-Bay improves its record to 7-8.
